Manuel Antonio Costa Rica
:
This park is just south of
Quepos on the Pacific Coast, 132 km from San José. Perhaps
It is so popular because of its expensive white sand beaches backed by an
evergreen forest that grows right up to the high tide line. The principal
habitants are primary forest, secondary forest, mangrove swamps, lagoons and
beach vegetation. There is quite a varied fauna with 109 species of mammals and
184 of birds. The park includes 12 little isles just off the coast; these are a
number of dolphins and, at times, migrating whales can be observed.
With the establishment of Manuel Antonio National Park in
1972, the people of Costa Rica decided to preserve, for future generations, one
of the most beautiful and bio-diverse areas in the world. Although it is the
country's smallest national park, the stunning beauty and diversity of wildlife
in its 683 hectares is unequaled.

everyone an exhilarating opportunity to soar through the rain forest high above
the forest floor. There you will view jungle life from a perspective previously
reserved for a select group of researchers and photographers. As many know Costa
Rica has some of the most beautiful rain forests in the world and hiking through
the rain forest is definitely a good way to see the forest however a new way of
viewing the wildlife has become the trend lately, Canopy Tours. These Canopy
Tours were invented because most of the wildlife in the forest is at the canopy
level of the forest and what a better way to see it than to be in the Canopy.

Crocodile Adventure:
Inhabitants of inter-tidal zones throughout the tropics and
subtropics, mangroves are a most curious collection of plants. It is easy to
make the erroneous assumption that the different kinds of mangrove trees are
closely related species adapted to the unique conditions in which they grow.
Even their English common names (red mangrove, black mangrove, white mangrove,
buttonwood mangrove, etc.) lend to the idea that these are merely different
species of the same plant family, as if they were maples or oaks. In reality,
the mangroves are a wonderful example of convergent evolution a situation in
which totally unrelated organisms have evolved certain similarities simply
because those are the characteristics best suited for making use of a particular
resource. And in this case the resource is a place where a plant might grow if
it can overcome the two major difficulties faced by mangroves: the salinity of
the sea water which saturates the ground they grow in and the absence of oxygen
in that same saturated mud.
Sea Kayaking:
Kayaks and canoes have been plying the oceans of the world
for centuries. They were created as tools for survival and travel. Their design
remains basically unchanged after generations of refinement. Their beauty lies
in their simplicity and functionality Kayak Jacó has taken the use of these
ancient craft into the next generation. You will enjoy a level of service and
commitment to quality of experience that will exceed your expectations. The
scenery, the distances that you paddle, the equipment, our base of operations,
and most importantly, your guide will make this a truly memorable adventure. Our
Sea Kayak and Snorkeling tour is serious fun. We've been doing it for 10 years
now and we feel we have it perfected. The scenery is spectacular, our equipment
is top notch and easy to paddle. We snorkel (when conditions permit) from the
beach so we have lots of options if someone in the group is into monkey watching
or beachcombing. Our tour is ½ day affair with departures from our base in Playa
Agujas at 8.15 am and 2.15 pm. Transportation is available from Jaco and all the
surrounding beaches.
Costa Rica Carara Reserve Tours
:This
is the northernmost region of Pacific rainforest remaining in Costa Rica, and is
the beginning of the transition zone into the tropical dry forests of the
northwest. Carara is one of Costa Rica's most popular National Parks, in large
part due to its proximity to San José. This is also where many cruise ship's
passengers are bused for a day trip when the liners dock just up the coast at
Puerto Caldera, and a common destination for field trips by school
children.Attractions.Carara is a favorite with bird watchers for several reasons
besides its ease of access. First, its position in a transition zone means that
residents of both habitats are likely to appear. Second, the Río Grande de
Tárcoles has free flowing sections and its waters seep into seasonal marshlands
and a shallow oxbow lake covered with hyacinths further expanding number of
local habitats. Finally, because it is slightly dryer, and not all of the trees
are evergreen, Carara is more open than the rainforests further south making
wildlife spotting easier
Rainforest Aerial Tram:
Created to raise the world's consciousness of the importance
of the tropical rainforests, the Pacific Rain Forest Aerial Tram allows guests
to discover the hidden secrets and hanging gardens of the Transitional Tropical
Rainforest from an awe-inspiring perspective
The Pacific Rain Forest Aerial Tram is an eco-tourism
project with 222 acres (90 hectares) of rainforest, showcasing small waterfalls
and scenic views of the Pacific Coast.Transitional Tropical Rainforest:
Our Rain Forest Aerial Tram - Pacific flys through a
transitional area between the extremely rare tropical dry forest and the
tropical rainforest. This junction between the two ecosystems is packed with
exotic wildlife and full of bright tropical vegetation.
MONTE VERDE SKY WALK:
Straddling the Continental Divide at 1440 meters (4662 ft),
the Santa Elena and Monteverde Cloud Forest area offers one of the most
interesting places to visit in Costa Rica.
In Monteverde Costa Rica rain forest are found more than 100
species of mammals including 5 species of cats, over 400 species of birds
including 30 kinds of hummingbirds, tens of thousands of insect species (over
5000 species of moths) and 2,500 species of plants (420 kinds of orchids). The
area is acclaimed as one of the most outstanding wildlife refuges in the New
World Tropics.
The Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve is a private non-profit
reserve administered by the Tropical Science Center, and contains 6 distinct
ecological zones. Called a cloud forest rather than a rain forest: because of
its altitude, the clouds go through the forest. The canopy is extremely rich
with birds, insects, butterflies, and thousands of plants. Great bird watching,
Resplendent Quetzal is usually seen in the March-April nesting season.
ARENAL VOLCANO
&
HOT SPRINGS:
Arenal Volcano, in Spanish
Volcán Arenal,
is an active andesitic stratovolcano in north-western Costa
Rica around 90 km northwest of San José, in the province of Alajuela, canton of
San Carlos, and district of La Fortuna. The Arenal volcano measures at least
1,633 meters (5,358 ft),. It is conically shaped with a crater spanning 140
metres (460 ft). Arenal is geologically considered a young volcano and the age
is estimated to be less than 7,000 years. It is also known as "Pan
de Azúcar", "Canaste", "Volcan Costa Rica", "Volcan Río Frío" or "Guatusos Peak".The
volcano was asleep for hundreds of years and exhibited a single crater at its
summit, with minor fumaroles activity, covered by dense vegetation. In 1968 it
had an eruption and destroyed the small town of Tabacón. Due to the eruption
three more craters were created on the western flanks but only one of them still
exists today.
POAS VOLCANO
&
SARCHI ARTSANS
:
The Poás Volcano, in Spanish Volcán Poás, is an active
strato volcano in central Costa Rica. Poás has erupted 39
times since 1828.There are two crater lakes near its summit.
The northern lake is known as the Laguna Caliente. It is one
of the world's most acidic lakes, with a pH of almost 0, and
as a consequence supports little or no aquatic life. Lake
Botos, the southern lake, fills an inactive crater, which
last erupted 7500BC. It is cold and clear, and is surrounded
by a cloud forest located within the Poás Volcano National
Park.Eruptive history:It was near the epicenter of a
6.1-magnitude earthquake in January 2009 that killed at
least forty people and affected Fraijanes, Vara Blanca,
Cinchona (the most affected area), the capital San José and
the Central Valley region of Costa Rica.It also has had
eruptive activity in 2009 involving minor phreatic eruptions
and landslides within the northern active crater. Poás
eruptions often include geyser-like ejections of crater-lake
waterm.

Costa Rica Fishing:
Costa Rica Fishing off the Central Pacific . coastline is
unlike any other sport fishing in the world. Sailfish are
abundant throughout the year, but from late December through
May, you should expect to see many free jumpers and
excessive amounts of fish. The Costa Rican fishing grounds
are famous for the numbers of sailfish, but there is also a
good chance to hook into big marlin. These cobalt waters
hold large dolphin fish, known as dorado, as well as several
species of tuna and Wahoo and Costa Rica deep-sea fishing
offers an opportunity to tangle with roosterfish, cubera
snapper, and broomtail grouper. Often five to fifteen Marlin
and Sailfish are caught daily throughout the year, which
makes for a memorable and productive Costa Rica fishing
vacation. To have ten shots at a sailfish in a day's fishing
is common, but many days have been recorded when more than
30 sailfish were raised in a day. The calm waters of the
Central Pacific, Costa Rica coastline have long been known
to produce some of the most spectacular sail fishing in the
world. The port of Quepos is on the central west coast of
the country. Right next to Quepos is the most popular
National Park in Costa Rica; Manuel Antonio. This Park
is famous for its beautiful beaches and abundance of
wildlife. The seas are usually calm.
